LOOKING BACK AT GC ACADEMY-CHAPTER 2: BLOCKCHAIN
BTS & Partners organised the 2nd Chapter of GC Academy focusing on Blockchain Technologies on 8 Feb 2018 at Zorlu PSM in Istanbul. There were more than 500 business people attending from 140 different companies, universities and institutions. With a great turnout and interesting topics and speakers, the event was a great success. We'd like to thank everyone who showed an interest and attended GC Academy: Blockchain last week.
GC Academy Chapter 2: Blockchain was organised in partnership with Microsoft, Fintech Istanbul and Interbank Card Centre ( BKM) where we discussed the current and future developments on blockchain technologies together with the leading speakers and panellists
Ahmet Usta, the author of 'Blockchain 101' talked about the history of blockchain technology and its development since the very beginning.
Cavit Yantaç, Deputy General Manager and Developer Experience & Evangelism Lead for Microsoft Turkey talked about the technicalities of the blockchain technology and where it will be widely used and benefited.
Cahit Erdoğan, EVP of IT And Operations at Yapı Kredi Bank evaluated the blockchain technology from a financial perspective.
Through a live video conference provided in partnership with Covington & Burling LLP, Global Blockchain Business Council Executives joined GC Academy and informed participants about their recent report on Blockchain.
In the following panel moderated by Tuğrul Sevim, Partner @ BTS & Partners, we had Koç Sistem R&D and Business Applications Director Hatice Kartal, BKM VP Celal Cündoğlu, VESTEL Ventures Board Member and TTGV (Technology Development Foundation of Turkey) Chairman Cengiz Ultav, Accenture Managing Director Emre Hayretçi, discussing about the future of blockchain technology, potential usage areas, global developments and how these are all perceived and will be executed in Turkey.
BTS & Partners Managing Partner Yasin Beceni moderated the following panel on the New Regulation Methodologies in FinTech and their impact on innovation. Doç Dr Aslı Helvacıoğlu at Boğaziçi University and Ussal Şahbaz, Innovation Lead at GE joined the discussion on regulatory sandbox issues.
The final panel was on the current & future usage of cryptocurrencies in commercial life. The panel was moderated by Naz Değirmenci, General Coordinator of BTS Academy, where Barış Özistek - CEO at Netmarble EMEA, İhsan Elgin - Founder at CoreStrateji, Barbaros Özbugutu – Founder and CEO at İyzico and Yrd. Doç. Dr. Cenk Karahan – Assistant Professor at Boğaziçi University were among the panellists talking about the future of cryptocurrencies.
BTS & Partners will continue to organize further events and activities on recent issues and developments. GC Academy is one of the core platforms for these activities and will continue to organize such events.
